Peace

Whenever we read the word "peace" in the Bible we should render it as the Hebrew word "shalom".

In Hebrew the word "shalom" can mean hello or goodbye but the meaning of the word goes much deeper than that.

In John 14:27 Yeshua says "peace I leave you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid'.

Here Yeshua is promising more than just the English equivalent of "freedom from disturbance; quiet and tranquility". This is what our English word "peace" means but Yeshua would have stated that He was giving them His shalom. What does shalom mean?

Shalom has the deeper meaning of complete wholeness; nothing lacking or wanting in any area: mentally, spiritually, physically etc. Nothing is missing or lacking. The person is complete in every way.

Shalom, Ma Shlomcha? How is your inner peace?

Now you know why I try an end all of my blogs with "shalom".
