Yeshua (Jesus) stated that He was The Way, The Truth, and The Life (John 14:6), but what exactly does this mean? The Older and Newer Testaments will give us the answer to this question!
Psalm 119:1 "Blessed are the undefiled in the WAY (derek), who walk in the law (Torah) of YHVH."
Psalm 119:142 "Thy righteousness is an everlasting righteousness, and thy law (Torah) is the TRUTH."
Proverbs 13:14 "The law (Torah) of the wise is a fountain of LIFE (chay), to depart from the snares of death."
In John 1:14 it also states that "the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us..."
Since the beginning the Torah has always been known as the way (derek) that a person is suppose to follow. The Torah itself is called a tree of Life (chay) and YHWH's Word (Torah) is Truth.
Yeshua stated that He came to keep His Father's commandments and to do His will. He was the Word made flesh.
Proverbs 6:23 "For the commandment is a lamp, and the law (Torah) is light (ore), and reproofs (correction, chastisement) of instruction are the way (derek) of life (chay).
The word used for light (ore) here denotes a supernatural light that resonates from God Himself. It is found in Genesis when God said "let there be light (ore)." This light was God Himself for the sun, moon and stars, had not yet been created. Torah is this supernatural light that illuminates our way of truth. Torah and the one True God are inseparable because Torah denotes the character of our God.
Proverbs 6:23 denotes that Torah is the way and life, the lamp for our way. When we "miss the mark" it is Torah that should give us the instructions that we need to get back on the right way.
Yeshua was the way, truth and life, because He was the Torah made flesh. It is the Torah that will keep us from the Way of death.
Shalom,
Leisa
